A reinforced graphite sheet where the graphite is mechanically
bonded to a tanged core. Available in sheets 1000mm x 1000mm or
as cut gaskets. The material comprises two outer layers of graphite
foil with a central tanged stainless steel core 0.1mm thick. Due to the
thickness of the tanged core; gaskets are best cut using the abrasive
water jet cutting process.
Features
· Graphite Purity 99% minimum.
· 0.1mm thick 1.4401 316 stainless steel foil reinforcement.
· Thickness range 1.0mm to 4.0mm.
· Mechanically bonded laminate. No adhesive used.
· Optimum material for thermal cycling applications and where
vibration is a problem.
· Withstands high compressive stresses.
· Greater recovery characteristics than flat metal reinforcement.
· Improved blow-out resistance.
· Difficult to cut by traditional methods, best results obtained by
abrasive water-jet cutting for a smooth safe edge finish.
· Maximum service temperature 500°C in oxidizing conditions.
· Maximum service temperature 750°C in inert and reducing
conditions.
· Maximum service pressure 200 Bar.
· Can be used at cryogenic temperatures.
· Compressibility 30 to 35%.
· Recovery 15 to 20%.
Good flange design parameters and correct gasket fitting
procedures should be adhered to, with maximum temperature and
pressure guides not being used simultaneously.
